When Dorothy crossed into the colourful land of Oz, she began an incredible journey. Jumping into starting a business can be just like entering Oz – it’s a world filled with excitement and fear, new people and unfamiliar obstacles. I can help you get all of your business needs ready to go- business plans, financials, bookkeeping systems etc., but another key to success is keeping that initial inspiration and excitement. As a new business owner, you should be waking up every day from that black and white world and be entering into technicolour land. Here are some tips on how to keep dreaming your small business dreams…
Surround Yourself with Positivity Maybe you have a mantra you love. Go ahead and put it up on the wall in your office. Seeing that positive message every day will help you remember why you are making this leap. Some people love to work alone, but if that isn’t you, find a group of like-minded business people that you can meet online or in person. Having a network of people who are also in the entrepreneur space can be key for bouncing off ideas, getting tips and just for being there when you need a boost. Your friends and family will also play key roles. Not only will they probably be investors in your business, but they are there to be your greatest cheerleaders.
Find Inspiration Get a stack of books that fire up your entrepreneurial spirit. Who are your business heroes? Chances are they have written about their experiences and you can get a great stack of inspiring books for your bedside table. Movies and documentaries can be a great place to spark ideas too.
Learn Something Every Day Take the time to learn another aspect of going into business. Never done bookkeeping? Spend some time to educate yourself about the bookkeeping software you will be using. Not a social media influencer? Check out what other brands in your space are doing and watch a webinar to get some tips and tricks for what works and what doesn’t. When you are ready to hire staff, it will be good to have a firm grip on what they will be doing so now is the time to learn more about the different roles that will make up your business.
Leave It All Behind Every Day Get outside and go for a walk. It’s amazing when you get away from your desk, how much work you can actually accomplish. Go to an art gallery or walk in the park. Get a coffee with a friend or go to a matinee. Your subconscious brain will still be whirring away and you will be refreshed and ready to go when you get back to the office.
